Join our MTB Club!
Mountain biking builds far more than riding skills.
Our After-School MTB Club helps riders aged 5–16 develop confidence, resilience, friendships, and a genuine love of being outdoors—all while progressing their mountain bike skills in a fun, supportive environment.
Each week, riders are grouped by age and ability and coached by certified instructors on some of Squamish’s best trails. Whether your child is just starting out or already loves riding, they’ll be challenged, supported, and encouraged every step of the way.
At SMBA, we’re not just coaching bikes.
We’re helping young people become confident, capable humans—on the trail and beyond.
why families choose smba

- Ability-based groups that help kids feel challenged without being overwhelmed.
- Clear progression pathways from green riders through to advanced development and racing.
- A coaching philosophy that develops confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of riding.

Riding levels
At SMBA, we match riders by ability, confidence, and experience to create the best possible learning environment. This helps every rider feel challenged, supported, and excited to ride each week.
Use the guide below to get a general idea of which group might be the best fit for your child.
Our programs use Squamish’s incredible trail network, including Alice Lake and Diamond Head, with trails such as LOA, Rollercoaster, Miki’s Magic, Pseudo-Tsuga, and Half Nelson.
Not sure which level is the best fit? No problem. Riders progress at different rates, and it’s common for us to adjust groups during the season as confidence and skills develop. If you’re unsure before registering, just get in touch—we’re always happy to help.

ADVANCED BLUE & BLACK TRAIL RIDERS
Comfortable Riding:
Riders at this level are confident on blue trails and actively progressing on black terrain. Riders may still be working through more advanced technical sections, steeper terrain, jumps, drops, and challenging trail features.
Skill Focus
Advanced cornering and braking control, technical descending, line choice, trail flow, jumps, drops, rock rolls, and confidently navigating more challenging black-rated terrain.
Stamina
Riders are comfortable riding for multiple hours on challenging terrain, maintaining a steady pace, with breaks to refuel and regroup throughout the session.
