Coaching-first riding adventures
July & August | Ages 7–14

Welcome to the summer MTB Club!

More than just a summer camp.

SMBA’s Summer MTB Club is a high-energy, coaching-first riding experience designed for youth riders who want to spend their summer exploring trails, building confidence, progressing their skills, and riding with an awesome crew.

Each day combines adventure, progression, games, challenge, and fun — all guided by experienced coaches who know how to create supportive, confidence-building learning environments.

Whether your child is looking to improve their riding, make new friends, or simply spend more time outdoors on bikes, Summer MTB Club is designed to help them grow both on and off the trail.

Why choose the Summer MTB Club?

Because great summer programs should be fun, challenging, supportive, and genuinely developmental.

At SMBA, our coaches are more than experienced riders — they’re mentors, educators, and skilled communicators who know how to help kids build confidence through progression, challenge, and positive experiences on bikes.

Our coaching approach combines skill development, adventure, teamwork, and fun to create an environment where riders feel supported, challenged, and excited to keep growing.

That’s why so many riders return season after season.

what to expect

Each day blends coaching, adventure, progression, games, and trail riding into a fun, high-energy learning experience.

Our coaches constantly weave in skill development, trail strategy, confidence-building, and individual feedback throughout the day, helping riders improve naturally through real riding experiences.

  • Ride Squamish’s world-class trails with a like-minded crew
  • Develop bike skills through playful challenges and terrain-based learning
  • Participate in team games and coaching-led activities that build confidence and group cohesion
  • Break for lunch at scenic lakeside spots
  • Coaches manage energy, group dynamics, and skill progression across the day
  • Riders are grouped by ability to keep things flowing and fun

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Riding levels

At SMBA, creating the best riding experience starts with grouping riders with similar skill levels, confidence, and trail experience. This helps every rider feel supported, challenged, and able to progress throughout the week.

The riding levels below are designed as a general guide to help families choose the best fit for their child. If you’re unsure which level is most appropriate, our team is always happy to help.

We typically run multiple groups with varying abilities and can often make adjustments once the program begins to ensure riders are placed in the environment where they’ll learn, grow, and have the most fun.

Summer MTB Club rides take place throughout the Alice Lake and Diamond Head trail networks, featuring classic Squamish trails such as Half Nelson, Rollercoaster, Miki’s Magic, Pseudo-Tsuga, and more.

EMERGING BLUE TRAIL RIDERS

Comfortable Riding:

Riders at this level are comfortable riding most blue flow trails in Squamish terrain. Riders may still be developing confidence on more technical blue sections, steeper terrain, and advanced trail features.

Skill Focus

Position and balance, braking control, cornering techniques, trail flow, tabletop jumps, small drops, and building confidence on technical blue trail features.

Stamina

Riders should be comfortable spending multiple hours riding and pedaling on Squamish trails, with regular breaks to refuel and regroup throughout the day.

ADVANCED BLUE & BLACK TRAIL RIDERS

Comfortable Riding:

Riders at this level are confident on blue trails and actively progressing on black terrain. Riders may still be working through more advanced technical sections, steeper terrain, jumps, drops, and challenging trail features.

Skill Focus

Advanced cornering and braking control, technical descending, line choice, trail flow, jumps, drops, rock rolls, and confidently navigating more challenging black-rated terrain.

Stamina

Riders are comfortable riding for extended periods on challenging terrain and maintaining a steady pace throughout longer rides and bigger trail days.

This program is designed for riders with previous trail riding experience, ranging from emerging blue trail riders through to advanced riders progressing on black terrain.
