Q&A
The Squamish MTB Academy International Program is an intensive six-day mountain biking experience for riders aged 13–18, designed to push skills to the next level. With expert coaching, technical skill development, and access to Squamish’s world-class terrain, riders will experience high-performance training in one of the most iconic MTB destinations.
Riders will stay at Squamish Adventure Inn, a comfortable and bike-friendly accommodation located in the heart of Squamish. The Adventure Inn provides:
- Shared bunk-style rooms with fellow riders
- On-site bike storage and secure facilities
- Common areas for team bonding & video analysis
- Easy access to Squamish’s trail network
- High-quality, nutritious meals designed for athletes
This program is designed for intermediate, advanced, and expert riders who are confident on technical singletrack, steep descents, and jumps. Squamish trails are harder than their ratings—a black trail elsewhere is often a blue here. Riders should be comfortable navigating steep, loose terrain, rock slabs, and rooty sections.
- Intermediate: Riders with solid MTB experience who are confident on black and some double black trails, can ride moderate technical terrain with control, and are comfortable with medium jumps and drops.
- Advanced: Riders who confidently ride black trails, can handle technical terrain at speed, and are comfortable with jumps, drops, and high-speed sections.
- Expert: Riders who excel on double black terrain, are experienced with larger drops and jumps, and want to fine-tune their skills at a high-performance level.
Squamish offers steep, technical descents, massive rock slabs, root webs, and fast-flowing jump lines. Expect to ride a mix of:
- Technical singletrack with rocks, roots, and off-camber sections
- High-speed flow trails with progressive jumps
- Steep descents & rock slabs requiring precise braking & line choice
- Race-style terrain to develop enduro and downhill skills
Every ride is designed to push your limits and elevate your riding technique.
Our elite-level coaching team provides in-depth training in:
- Line choice & race techniques for speed and efficiency
- Technical skill progression for steep terrain, drops, and jumps
- Video analysis to refine movement and correct mistakes
- Confidence-building & mental strategies for high-performance riding
Coaching is progression-focused, ensuring every rider is challenged while staying safe.
A modern enduro bike (not a trail bike) is required to handle Squamish’s terrain. Your bike must have: ✔ 160mm+ of travel (preferably 170mm)
✔ Four-piston brakes for steep, high-speed descents
✔ Aggressive tires (reinforced sidewalls & soft compound recommended)
✔ Dropper post for better control
✔ Well-maintained suspension & drivetrain
Need a rental? Let us know in advance, and we can help arrange a high-end enduro bike rental if needed.
Riders are required to wear: ✔ Full-face helmet (mandatory)
✔ Knee pads (strongly recommended)
✔ Gloves (recommended)
✔ Elbow pads & additional protection (optional but encouraged)
Each day is designed to maximize trail time and focus on skill progression.
